This morning (Friday, Jan 30, 2015), Adrian Nur had his open doctoral presentation for his graduation in Aula Oedjoe Djoeriaman, Department of Chemical Engineering ITS. The title of his presentation is ‘Synthesis of hydroxyapatite by electrochemical method and its applications. He has succeeded to defend his dissertation in January 16, 2015 in front of the examiners, two from the Department of Chemical Engineering (Prof. Sugeng Winardi and Dr. Samsudin Affandi) and one from Sebelas Maret University (Dr. Agus Purwanto). His supervisors are Prof. Heru setyawan and Prof. Arief Widjaja.
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is one of calcium phosphate compounds which is usually used as bone substitutes. His concern about people health has encouraged him to develop a simple and cheap method to prepare the material. He has been successfully prepared HA nanoparticles by an electrochemical method and applied the material to coat metal for bone implant. His important contribution on this field brought him to obtain doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering.
Adrian Nur is a lecturer of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Sebelas Maret University. He joined our laboratory to take doctoral course in 2009. After his graduation, he will returned back to Sebelas Maret University as a lecturer.
